Roulette Guide

Roulette is very simple but at the same time extremely thrilling game. The game has high payouts and is able to make you a rich man within a second.

Roulette Table

The roulette table consists of the wheel and a field for placing bets. The spinning wheel contains 37 or 38 numbered slots where the ball lands thus defining the winner. There are two types of Roulette tables - American, that has 38 slots (numbers from 1 to 36, a "0" and "00") and European Roulette, that has 37 slots, numbers and one "0". The numbers are alternately colored red and black while the "0" and "00" are green.

Roulette Bets

There are Inside Bets: Straight-up bet (bet on one number), Split bet (bet on two numbers), Street bet (bet on three numbers), Square bet (bet on 4 numbers), Line bet (bet on 6 numbers) and Five-number bet (a bet on definite numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3.)
Outside Bets: Column bet (a bet on a vertical column); Dozen bet (bet on 1st, 2nd or 3rd dozen); Even/Odd bet (bet on whether odd or even number will come) up; Color bet (a bet on red or black color) and Low or High bet (bet on whether the number to come up is less or more than 19).

Payouts

The Straight Up is paid 35 to 1; the next highest paid bet is Split Bet, it pays 17 to 1; Street bet has 11:1 payout; Square is paid 8:1; Line bet pays 5:1; 5-number bet has the payout of 6:1; Dozen and Column bets pay 2:1 and all other bets pay even.

Things to remember

  • Low-odds and even money bets have very low house advantage in comparison to other bets.
  • We recommend you to refrain from five-number bet, it gives the house an incredible advantage of 7.89%.
  • Play at the casino halls offering European roulette. Extra zero in the American roulette adds the house an advantage and all in all it makes 5.3% of house edge, while European roulette has the house advantage totaling 2.7%.
  • Try to find an online casino that offers the "Surrender" option. It will increase your odds in the case of even-money bets.
  • Try to choose casino roulette that has the "en prison" option. With its help you can reduce the casino advantage by 50% on all even-money bets. This is when the ball lands on "0" and is applied only to even-money outside bets. In this situation, the player does not lose his bet immediately, the bet remains on the board and is said to be 'in prison'.
  • Plan your bankroll in advance and stay within your limits when playing. Do not spend more than you can afford.
